ARTIST BIO

My passion for drawing and painting is life-long.  That passion has led me down numerous creative avenues, including those of wearable art - depicting realistic 'portraits' of birds and animals - murals, and privately commissioned works in unusual forms.  I also added acrylics on canvas, mixed media, and collage to my mediums.  For two decades, I used my skills in illustration and graphic design for employers, not for profit organisations, and special interest groups.  In 2009, I rediscovered printmaking.  Carving wood and lino blocks (or anything else carve-able), and the unpredictability of the hand-printing process, is one that continues to inspire. My original prints reflect my love and respect for nature, and a craving to preserve the past - and the present, before it too disappears.  Pulling prints by hand continually offers fresh challenges and appreciation for printmaking as an artform.

Being an advocate of our Australian wildlife, I actively use my art to promote awareness in projects such as the 'Bimblebox Art Project' - a collabortive endeavour that aims to prevent coal mining in the Bimblebox Nature Refuge in Queensland, and 'Birds without Borders', another collaborative travelling exhibition, which celebrates Australia's migratory shorebirds using the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.

My prints have been exhibited nationally and internationally.

I have received awards for both my paintings in acrylics and original limited edition prints - linocuts and woodcuts.  As a member of Artists of the Valley Inc, based in Casterton, Victoria, and the South East Art Society Inc of Mount Gambier, South Australia, my work is regularly exhibited in group shows, as well as submitted and exhibited in various other art awards.
